Louise Brown

Louise is the nifty little Swiss army knife, behind the scenes that brings all this together. She’s our Director, Producer, Camerawoman, Editor, Social Media Guru and Marketing Manager!

Louise has a love of the sun, the sand and the sea and her ideal day is spent on or in the water snorkelling the pristine reefs of the Whitsundays. A North Queensland born and bred girl, she took every opportunity to get to the Whitsundays for weekends and holidays, dreaming of what it would be like to live in this paradise. Now she’s literally living the dream. Living in the Whitsundays, putting her creativity to use and spending many a day on the water, she’s not sure it gets any better than this.

Joining creative forces with Adrian, they combined their skill sets and became one hell of a team, starting the video production company, WASP NQ Productions. Louise’s creativity, photography and video passion and Adrian’s different view of the world, as well as his exceptional drone piloting skills made them a force to contend with in the video production world.

Louise is not afraid to get her hands dirty, she’s happiest when she’s elbow deep in an engine, a garden project or building something. Back when she had more free time, you’d find her under the bonnet of the latest project car or sanding back the paint and making it absolutely flawless before it got it’s new paint job.

She has also been known to flick the occasional line but it’s more about being out on the water for her.

We asked the team to help everyone get to know them better by answering a few questions. Have a look at Louise’s responses below:

Do you have a nickname and how did you come by it?

Chicken, given to me by my Dad when I was a baby… I’m not sure how a baby resembles a chicken but who am I to judge?

When you’re not working on the show, what do you like to do with your time?

I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain… well not really actually. I don’t drink a lot but I do love summer rain. I enjoy spending time with my family, learning new things and playing around with landscape photography/art.

What’s the worst fishing/boating situation you’ve ever been in and how did it end?

I found myself caught between Garden Island, near Hinchinbrook Island and the mainland in a little 5 metre boat when a squall came across unexpectedly. The waves were so big, every direction you looked, all you could see was the walls of water when the boat was in the trough. It was a slow and scary trip back to the mainland!

If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

Anyone from ancient Egypt, I want to know how they built those damn pyramids!

If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island for a year and you can only take 3 types of food, what would they be?

Chocolate, coffee and more chocolate… although some chocolate is probably enough so maybe cheese. Those are my weaknesses.

Who would you like to be stranded with on this deserted island?

It’d have to be someone entertaining, fun to be around and able to hold an intelligent conversation. Adrian qualifies so it’d be him!

If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

I would absolutely have the ability to fly (and fast)! I don’t do long car rides well so that would solve all my problems!

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep and why?

Around 40 hours. I had filmed all day and had an early morning deadline to meet with the footage, so you do what you have to.

Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life?

Angelina Jolie. It wouldn’t be a terribly accurate representation of me but I think she’s just beautiful.

On second thoughts, maybe Jennifer Lopez, she’s gorgeous, funny, smart and a bit of a go-getter. I like that about her.

What are you addicted to?

Definitely coffee!

How did you find out about Santa and how old were you?

I was around 8 or 9 and Santa didn’t have time to make his gifts that year so apparently shopped at Kmart, since he left the price tags on.

If you were the Prime Minister, what would be the first law you’d introduce?

Haha I’d make it mandatory to watch awesome fishing shows!

If you had a warning label, what would it say?

WARNING – Do not approach if not caffeinated!

What has been your favourite job and why?

I’d have to say, my time as a QLD firefighter was my most rewarding and saddest job all at the same time. It is my favourite though, I met some wonderful people I consider more like family than lifelong friends.
